Zoos and aquariums across the nation got into a fierce battle on Twitter recently. The winner? Everyone. Because the 'battle' was a #CuteAnimalTweetOff.
It all started when Smithsonian's National Zoo released a press release announcing the birth of this adorable grey seal.
We welcomed a gray seal pup Jan. 21. The pup appears to be nursing, moving & bonding well w/ mom. https://t.co/l0Bzu7g8ek #Squee pic.twitter.com/nEhuJe6vBk

A Twitter user challenged Virginia Aquarium to reply with something just as cute.

And soon, the two zoos were locked in a bitter battle.
