On Tuesday night, President Barack Hussein Obama bid the nation adieu with a powerful farewell address, reliving some of the triumphs of his presidency, thanking the American people, and reminding citizens of their duty to safeguard democracy.
To no one's surprise, there were moments when many Americans got pretty damn weepy.
It certainly marked the end of an era.
But his most powerful moments came when he thanked First Lady Michelle Obama for her unconditional love and support. If you're emotionally prepared, watch the video below:
Pres. Obama to Michelle Obama: "You took on a role you didn't ask for...you made the White House a place that belongs to everybody." pic.twitter.com/OOp4H2X9Ov

"You've been not only my wife and mother of my children, but my best friend," Obama said as an entire nation welled up. "You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humor."
At this point, the sobs in the audience were nearly audible.
"You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. You've made me proud. You've made the country proud."
The audience, crowds in the streets, and Internet alike completely lost all composure at the genuine display of beautiful, unwavering, pure love.
Barack and Michelle Obama will always be relationship goals. Always. #ObamaFarewell

As if we weren't already destroyed, the wonderful family moments continued.

Malia and Sasha were up next: "You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily," he told his teenage daughters. "Of all that I’ve done in my life, I'm most proud to be your dad."
...Not a dry eye in the house or behind a screen.
Since he was thanking his life partners, after all, President Obama turned his attention to Joe Biden.

"You were the first decision I made as a nominee and the best," he told his VP and meme partner. "Not just because you have been a great vice president, but because in the bargain, I gained a brother.
Of course, to everyone's delight, Biden responded in true Joe fashion.
Right back at ya Joe
...And then everyone completely lost it all over again.
All I'm saying is that Ryan Gosling's speech to Eva Mendes has nothing on Obama's speech to Joe Biden. #bromance #winkandagun #brogoals
