President Donald Trump's decision to issue a media blackout at various science agencies, including the Department of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Agency was met with a brief moment of resistance when a brave employee hijacked the Badlands National Parks Twitter account to tweet climate change facts.
And now, someone who was inspired by this act of defiance has created a new "AltUSNatParkService," Twitter account. Essentially, it's an alternative account that's actually allowed to tweet facts.
Mr Trump, you may have taken us down officially. But with scientific evidence & the Internet our message will get out.
— AltUSNatParkService (@AltNatParkSer) January 24, 2017
The account claims to be run by "the Unofficial 'Resistance' team of U.S. National Park Service." Though there's no official word on where whether it's actually rogue National Park employees or simply supporters.
We are definitely real! Come visit us at Mt Rainer National Park.

Though they're pretty adamant that they are actually National Park employees.
Can't wait for President Trump to call us FAKE NEWS.
— AltUSNatParkService (@AltNatParkSer) January 25, 2017
You can take our official twitter, but you'll never take our free time!
And they've been using their overnight fame, which has so far resulted in 350,000 followers, to tweet facts about climate change and their concern with the Trump administration.
Barrier islands such as Assateague will be especially vulnerable to the effects of climate change & sea-level rise. We must protect them. https://t.co/1wA2m5vj2R

The National Parks, forest and wilderness reserves in our country are our greatest natural assets. We're scared for the future. #Keystone

President Trump has called climate change a hoax & the White House deleted the climate change policies on its website on inauguration day.
