On Saturday, actor and former Barack Obama adviser Kal Penn received a nasty comment after posting to Twitter about Donald Trump's 'Muslim ban' which bans all travel from 7 Muslim-majority countries for 90 days.
To the dude who said I don't belong in America, I started a fundraising page for Syrian Refugees in your name. https://t.co/NOR5P48fBi pic.twitter.com/jtJOsK9GrU

To troll the troll, Penn, who was born in New Jersey, decided to set up a fundraiser for the International Rescue Committee with the goal of raising $2,500 to benefit Syrian refugees.
A day later, the total sits at $451,104 and is quickly climbing. The best thing? It's all in the name of the troll who left the mean comment. "Donating to Syrian refugees in the name of the dude who said I don't belong in America," the fundraiser reads.
As you can imagine, Penn is overwhelmed by the response.
@kalpenn Props to the person who donated in Steve Bannon's name! Let's keep it going! https://t.co/NOR5P48fBi #RefugeesWelcome #resist ?? pic.twitter.com/c2U1U4N348

And that's not all the money that people have been donating. Over the past weekend, the ACLU, which has successfully blocked the ban in a federal court and has been offering free representation to those detained, has received a fair bit of cash.
NEW: @ACLU now says it has received 290,000 online donations totaling $19.4 million since Saturday morning. Average per year is $3-4 million

Hopefully, the troll appreciates all the effort that Penn went to, they seem like a nice person.
